It is used during routine restorative and hygiene exams where checking a tooth from two different tip angles saves time over a single-ended instrument.

The #6 end provides a different curvature and reach than the #23 hook, letting the clinician access surfaces or angles the primary hook does not sit against comfortably, without switching to a second instrument.

Clinically, the #23 end is used for pit and fissure caries detection and margin checks, while the #6 end is used for general surface inspection from a second angle, including checking irregularities and rough spots on enamel. SurgiWorld also stocks the #23 hook paired with a TU17 or DG16 tip for clinicians who need a subgingival or endodontic-specific second end instead. Double-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.

Product Features

EXD 23/6 Explorer pairs the #23 Shepherd's Hook with a second #6 tip angle

#23 end detects pit and fissure caries and checks restoration margins

#6 end reaches surfaces at a different angle without repositioning the handle

Provides two working angles for comprehensive surface inspection

General-purpose double-ended option, not a subgingival or endodontic specialty tip

Double-ended design covers more of the exam without switching instruments

Medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable
