Product overview & features
Product detailsThe Kramer-Nevins bone chisel 55 is a sharp, long single-ended instrument designed for the bone grafting stage of surgical treatment rather than for the bone shaving or tooth splitting roles filled by the Gardner, Chandler, or Wakefield series. It is used to compact the bony walls of a graft site after graft material has been placed, condensing the site to improve graft stability, and it also serves to remove exostosis and tori where a defined ridge of excess bone needs to be reduced.
At 5.5 mm blade width, the #55 is the narrower of the two Kramer-Nevins grafting instruments, making it suited to more confined graft sites and smaller exostosis or tori than the wider 7.5 mm #75. The long blade profile gives the clinician reach into deeper graft sites without requiring an unusually long handle stroke.
Clinically, the 55 and 75 Kramer-Nevins Bone Chisels are typically stocked together to cover a range of graft site sizes, with the 55 selected for narrower sites and the 75 for wider walls or larger exostosis and tori. Single-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, autoclavable.
Product Features
- 55 Kramer-Nevins Bone Chisel 5.5 mm compacts bony walls after contiguous bone grafting procedures
- Sharp, long single-ended blade suited to confined graft sites and smaller exostosis or tori
- Condenses graft site walls after material placement to improve stability before closure
- 5.5 mm blade width is the narrower of the two Kramer-Nevins grafting instruments
- Distinct role from the Gardner and Chandler shaving chisels, built for compacting rather than shaving
- Matched pair with the wider 7.5 mm 75 Kramer-Nevins for larger graft sites
- Medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable
55 vs 75 Kramer-Nevins: Same bone grafting and compacting function, but the 55's 5.5 mm blade is for narrower graft sites and smaller exostosis or tori, while the 75's 7.5 mm blade covers wider walls and larger excess bone in fewer strokes.
Matched Pair: The 55 and 75 Kramer-Nevins Bone Chisels are designed as a matched narrow/wide pair for bone grafting and compacting procedures. Stock both to cover confined graft sites (55) alongside wider walls and larger exostosis or tori (75).
