After Gracey 11/12 Curette is selected for mesial posterior pockets deeper than 5mm where the standard-length 11/12 shank cannot bypass the crown to reach the base of the pocket.
The defining feature is a terminal shank 3mm longer than the standard 11/12, with the entire shank thinned for clearance, while the blade keeps its standard full width rather than the shortened blade used on the Mini pattern.
Clinically, the After 11/12 is used for deep scaling and root planing on the mesial surfaces of posterior teeth during active periodontal therapy, typically paired with the After 13/14 for matching distal reach. Double-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.
