Clinical Use

The Band Seater and Scaler is a double-ended instrument for the banding and bonding phase. One end has a rugged tip for pushing bands into place, and the other has a sharp scaler for finishing.

Design and Handling

Seating and cleanup are done with the same handle, so you can seat the band, then turn the instrument over and use the scaler to remove excess cement from the margins, with no instrument swap in between.

The pushing tip is built for firm, repeated pressure on the band edge. The scaler end is sharp, so use it with light strokes near the gingival margin.

Seating Bands Well

A well seated band starts with the right fit. Try the band on, press it down with the pusher or bite stick until it sits at the correct height on the crown, and check that it clears the opposing tooth in occlusion before it is cemented. Excess cement should be cleaned from the margins before it sets, because it traps plaque and irritates the gingiva.

Keep the instrument tip clean between bands. Cement or resin on a pusher makes it slip and can scratch the band surface.

Keep a spare pusher or bite stick available for the day, because instruments are sterilized between patients and a banding appointment can use several bands in one visit.

Material and Sterilization

Made from medical grade stainless steel. Autoclavable for repeated sterilization cycles. Clean and dry the instrument after each use, and check the working ends for wear or damage before it goes into the pouch.
