The Bernard Elevator Kit is built for clinicians who want full-arch periodontal ligament severing coverage from the start, rather than adding Bernard Elevator patterns to the tray one at a time. Also referred to as syndesmotomes, all three instruments in the kit are used at the beginning of an atraumatic extraction sequence, before a luxator or forceps is introduced, to loosen the tooth and reduce the force needed to remove it.
Each instrument in the kit shares the same 3.6 mm concave working tip, which is what allows the set to function as a matched trio rather than three unrelated instruments. The 11 Straight carries a straight shank suited to the direct extraction path of anterior teeth, while the 6 Right and 7 Left carry mirrored contra-angled shanks that position the tip correctly against posterior teeth on each side of the arch, where a straight instrument cannot seat at a usable angle.
Clinically, the kit lets a clinician move through a full-arch extraction sequence, anterior, posterior right, and posterior left, without switching to a different periotome brand or pattern mid-procedure.
