SurgiWorld – Ligature Director & Ligature Tucker

Clinical Use

The Ligature Director and Ligature Tucker is a dual-purpose tool for tucking pigtails and directing ligature wires under the wings of the tie. A slim profile gives easy access in crowded arches.

Design and Handling

After a wire ligature is twisted, a pigtail remains. The tucker end pushes it under the arch, away from the cheeks and lips, and the director end guides the wire under the tie wings.

The slim profile reaches between the teeth where wider tools do not fit.

Working With Ligatures

Ligature wires and elastic ties are finished by making sure nothing sharp is left in the mouth. Tuck wire tails under the arch, away from the cheeks and lips, and run the tip along the bracket to check that elastic ties are fully seated under the wings.

Clean the working tip after every patient. Dried elastomeric debris or cement on the tip makes it harder to feel the wire and bracket.

A ligature director is a small instrument, but it is used at nearly every adjustment visit. Keeping a few on the tray means one is always clean and ready while the others are being reprocessed, so chair time is not lost waiting for an instrument.

Material and Sterilization

Made from medical grade stainless steel. Autoclavable for repeated sterilization cycles. Clean and dry the instrument after each use, and check the working ends for wear or damage before it goes into the pouch.
