Product overview & features
Product detailsLuxator 1mm Straight is a periotome, an instrument built to cut the periodontal ligament rather than pry a tooth loose, which is the core difference between a Luxator-style instrument and a conventional dental elevator.
The 1mm straight blade is thin enough to insert directly into the PDL space alongside the root, and the finest, most delicate blade width in the Luxator periotome line, reached for first in a staged atraumatic extraction. Straight geometry gives a direct line of insertion on anterior teeth and single-rooted premolars. Working the blade around the circumference of the socket with light rocking and rotational pressure, rather than the wedging force of an elevator, severs the fine ligament fibers holding the tooth in place one section at a time.
Because the ligament is already cut by the time elevation or forceps removal begins, meaningfully less force is needed to complete the extraction. That matters most around the buccal plate, the thin outer wall of bone that is easiest to fracture under prying pressure and hardest to rebuild afterward if a future implant is planned. Working from the thinnest blade available up through wider widths, rather than reaching for one blade to do the entire job, is what keeps the technique atraumatic across a range of root shapes and sizes.
This instrument is stocked as part of a broader Luxator set rather than used alone, since each width and shape is suited to a different root geometry or angle of access. Oral surgeons, periodontists, and general dentists extracting their own teeth reach for this pattern specifically when preserving the socket walls is a priority, whether for a planned implant or simply as standard atraumatic practice. Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.
