Clinical Use

The Mathieu Wide Tip Pliers, 14cm, are used to hold and place elastic ties and chains in orthodontic treatment. The wider serrated tip gives more contact area, which makes it easier to grip larger elastic ties and chains securely.

Design and Handling

The locking handle holds the elastic between your fingers' squeezes, which gives stability and makes rubber band placement quick during routine check-ups. The sturdy 14cm body suits repeated daily use.

Close the handle to lock onto the elastic, guide it over the bracket, then release. The serrated tips keep the elastic from sliding as you stretch it.

Use and Care

Orthodontic hand instruments are used all day and handled with gloves that are wet from saliva, so a clean, secure grip matters. Wipe off bonding resin, cement and elastomeric debris before it hardens, and clean joints and serrations with a brush before the instrument goes into the ultrasonic bath and autoclave.

Check the tips for wear or bending at the start of each week, because a damaged tip can scratch brackets or tear elastics.
