SurgiWorld – Rubber Dam Punch Ainsworth 17 cm

Clinical Use

The Ainsworth Rubber Dam Punch is a heavy-duty 17cm punch with a rotating wheel that carries five hole sizes. It makes clean, sharp punctures in all rubber dam thicknesses, so the dam fits each tooth without tearing.

Design and Handling

The wheel lets you choose a hole size to suit the tooth: a smaller hole for incisors and a larger one for molars, so the dam seals tightly around the neck. A clean-cut hole is much less likely to tear when the dam is stretched over the clamp.

Mark the dam, rotate the wheel to the size you want, position the punch over the mark and squeeze. Check the hole for a clean edge before placement.

Rubber Dam Tips

Isolation is easiest when the setup is ready before the patient is seated. Punch the dam, choose a clamp, and check that the frame, forceps and floss are within reach. A dry, isolated field improves visibility, protects the airway from irrigant and debris, and keeps saliva off the tooth during bonding and root canal work.

Rinse and dry rubber dam instruments after each case, and watch for latex dust, cement or disinfectant residue building up in joints and holes.

Keeping a spare clamp plate, frame and forceps on the endodontic tray also means isolation is never delayed while an instrument is being reprocessed.

Material and Sterilization

Made from medical grade stainless steel. Autoclavable for repeated sterilization cycles. Clean and dry the instrument after each use, and check the working ends for wear or damage before it goes into the pouch.
